4th Annual MORWM Giving with Purpose

Dear Clients and Friends,

This Thanksgiving Weekend we give you our fourth annual Giving With Purpose Holiday Shopping Guide.

The MOR Wealth Management family has brainstormed and compiled the following list of websites. Each site allows for easy browsing and provides a variety of gift ideas that also pay it forward in some way. Many of these companies either give back to the community or are committed to have sustainable business practices. These gift ideas are appropriate for many occasions, including the holidays.

Please join us in giving credit to Gloria and Elizabeth for their wonderful research this year. Below are our top ten picks for 2019.

ALLBIRDS – Certified B Corp

Allbirds footwear is simple in design, comfortable and made from natural and recycled products. By using wool from merino sheep, the Allbirds process “uses 60% less energy than materials used in typical synthetic shoes.” Their laces are made from recycled bottles and their packaging is made from 90% recycled cardboard. Allbirds’ entire supply chain is carbon neutral as of 2019, and they are “working to develop projects in (their) own supply chain that will reduce (their) emissions directly” so that they will eventually leave no carbon trace at all.

BIXBEE – Certified B Corp

With each purchase of a backpack from Bixbee, the company expands access to education by donating a schoolbag with supplies to a child in need. These ergonomically designed backpacks are specifically made for children’s measurements. Bixbee backpacks “bridge function and durability with fashion and fun!”

BOMBAS – Certified B Corp

Bombas produces and sells socks. For each pair sold, one pair of specially engineered socks is donated to the homeless. The donated socks are designed to go longer between washings, while “reinforced seams and darker colors give them greater durability with less visible wear.” Socks available for purchase include “material improvements that add up to a new level of engineered comfort and performance.”

STATE BAGS – Certified B Corp

State Bags sells a variety of unique products while fighting back against social injustices. The company gives back by “donating fully-packed backpacks at our signature bag drop rallies, fueling #WhatDoWeTellTheKids activations and special projects with partner charities and schools.”

SWORD & PLOUGH – Certified B Corp

Sword & Plough produces apparel and accessories while donating to organizations that support veterans. Veterans are employed by the company “on (their) own team, with (their) contract manufacturing partners (which are veteran owned or partially staffed by veterans), through (their) veteran owned fulfillment center, and via (their) Brand Champion program.” They “reduce waste and minimize (their) carbon footprint” by using recycled military materials in their products.

ALL GOOD PRODUCTS – Certified B Corp

All Good Products refers to themselves as a “nature-based healing company.” Their products are reef friendly, made with certified organic ingredients and packaged with recycled materials. They donate a percentage of their sales to “Save Our Snow” and “United Plant Savers.”

GROVE COLLABORATIVE INC – Certified B Corp

“One simple belief started Grove - that safer, environmentally-friendly products should be easily available, for everyone.” Grove “offer(s) products that are gentler on the earth, prioritize(s) post-consumer materials for packaging, and carbon offset every shipment.” Purchases “will help Grove in its partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees across the United States.”

BEE’S WRAP – Certified B Corp

Bee’s Wrap products allow consumers to reduce the use of plastic in food preparation by offering a more environmentally friendly way to save food. Each wrap is made from “organic cotton with beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin.” The wraps can be washed and reused for up to a year with regular care. “BEE'S WRAP is committed to creating a meaningful difference for a healthy bee population, cleaner waterways, and education in sustainable practices to protect our earth.”

MALOUF – Certified B Corp

“Your luxury bedding purchase from Malouf helps children in need sleep better. Together, with partners from the community and our causes, we work to ensure every child lives with freedom, justice, and dignity—and enjoys a safe home.” Malouf uses a portion of their proceeds to help at-risk children and fight against child abuse and exploitation.

FOUND MY ANIMAL – Certified B Corp

Found My Animal supports numerous Animal Rescue organizations with part of the proceeds from their sale of clothing and accessories for dogs, cats, goats and horses. “Found My Animal promotes animal adoption in a very direct way: let your pet wear your values. By encouraging rescue over purchase, we support animal welfare by asking pets and their owners to help deliver our simple, important message. If you cannot adopt, foster. If you cannot foster, donate. If you cannot donate, volunteer.”

Hopefully this list inspired you to give a little more (or a little more deliberately) this holiday season. If you saw something that you liked on this list, we would absolutely love to hear your gifting story! Happy and healthy holidays from everyone here at MOR Wealth Management!
